Finally! It has been a year since Sinsmas came out and I am finally done with these Human AU drawings! Huzzah!

Blitz only having good mental health when supporting others, instead of himself, is killing me inside

"Sinsmas" is a fantastic episode, but one of the few nitpicks I have with it is the two scenes with Via's mom and uncle. They're normally much more articulate. Even Stella, who is not the brightest bulb in Wacky Wackford's Idea Factory, has a certain elegance to her diction and can sling some vicious insults. Now they're just falling about laughing and repeating the same words over and over. The episode was scripted so long ago that I can only guess their scenes may have been a stray bit of older and/or placeholder writing that was never brought into line with the rest of the show. But then I thought of a more appealing explanation. Andrealphus and Stella have been despoiling the palace, we can see; they must have rampaged through Stolas's treasures and private stuff. Including his exotic collection of plants from Hell and Earth. These two birds are stoned off their asses. That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

I'm sure the haters are in full spate right now about the woobification of Blitz, but when I look back across two seasons it seems obvious now that this is what he has always wanted.

Even back in Murder Family we saw his familial love and pride towards Loona. His mom's skull charm and the poster of him with his sister were already present even though we didn't know what they meant yet. And there's that moment at the end when he's crass and rude to Moxxie, steps through the portal and then stands there looking really sad while Millie says the supportive loving things he didn't.

Part of Blitz's terrible behavior is because he's a gleefully chaotic evil murder gremlin. Part of it is poor impulse control and neurodivergent traits that some of us recognize in the mirror to a painfully sympathetic degree. Part of it is trauma and self-hatred and self-sabotage. And I always assumed some of it was lack of practice. Someone raised by Cash and then abandoned as a teenager is going to have different experience than someone who grew up in a loving, stable large farm family.

But Blitz wasn't only raised by Cash. And we saw how supportive he was of Fizz, back before their lives went to shit. And despite his flaws as a parent he has won Loona's love, trust and respect (more than I ever would've thought before s1e8 came out!) He's got these skills. He just…never felt safe dropping all his guards and using them before.

(Is it realistic to think Blitz will keep up this level of selfless patient cherishing forever, and never get irritated at Stolas? Nah. They will bicker, more than M&M do, and probably have at least one serious disagreement next season. The current living situation is certainly not going to work longterm. But I have no doubt they'll figure it all out in the end. )

What a great way to end a season. Nothing bad happened, no surprises, or anything that was a gut punch. You know, just wholesomeness 🥲

ALRIGHT SO

One of the things I noticed mildly in Mastermind and was given more content of in Sinsmas: Blitz is having a really good time. Like, ofc he's still suffering, but, the ending of the episodes are really good for him. And this is hugely contrasted by the fact that Stolas...isn't.

Blitz is so sweet and gentle with Stolas because he’s doing fine and Stolas isn't. Think about it

By the end of Mastermind, Blitz is in a pretty good position. He's basically become a celebrity among the working class imps. Combined with that, he's INSANELY relieved. Just a few months ago he thought he was going to never see the love of his ife again. A few hours ago, he thought he was going to die. A little after that, he thought the love of his life was gonna die. Then he didn't. He still has his family whole, Loona is freely admitting that she loves him, his employees are okay, Stolas is okay and living with him now. He's doing well.

Compare that with Stolas

He has just lost everything he has ever known. He's lost his powers, his money, his books, his house and -most importantly- his daughter. He is lost and shell shocked and miserable.

While Blitz is relived and hopeful.

This carries forward in Sinsmas, where Blitz is a lot more chipper and Stolas is still downtrodden.

The responsibility of working is weighing on Stolas while Blitz is happy to get him on the job. He doesn't take offense to Stolas's groaning and carries on like normal.

At work, it's also an instance of Stolas being miserable and Blitz trying his best to comfort him and to be supportive, even disagreeing with the client to make Stolas feel better.

Then it's the two things that fucking GET ME in this episode

Blitz trying to warm Stolas up, to be close to him, to cuddle him, to touch him, to comfort him and Stolas being cold and un-receptive (also both of them are hugging themselves nooooo please hold each other it'll helpppp 😭😭😭).

And these last shots that really sell it

Blitz is soft and happy. Stolas is defeated and distant. It's clear in the previous scenes that he loves Blitz and this is everything he ever wanted but it seems like a hollow victory because he thinks he's lost his daughter forever. He's so tired and it's so clear that he wants to enjoy this moment - to give in to the comfort - but he can't.

It also illustrates the development and reversal of Stolitz's dynamic perfectly. Earlier on, Stolas would've jumped at the slightest sign of Blitz’s affection. Now he can't even hug him back. Blitz is kind, hopeful and affectionate. Stolas can't find it in himself to reciprocate.

Here's what I love about Sinsmas (spoilers for Helluva Boss S2E12 below the cut)

even though we get the grand romantic display of Blitzø saving Stolas (and the KISS), I think it's more realistic for Stolas to still be in a funk over his daughter even though he's wanted this. He's also probably in withdrawal from his antidepressants.

I really appreciate the show making a point to show that even if you're in a relationship, your mental health issues don't just magically go away. And despite that, Blitzø still embraces him.

We've all thought about Via becoming friends with Loona, maybe even interacting with Blitz some more and realizing he's not that bad. She definitely needs some support - she's isolated with her mother and uncle, and Andy's now pissed off at her.

But I just thought of another possibility. Only one person at that sham trial expressed any concern at all for Stolas. Vassago has surely realized in hindsight that Andy was staging the whole thing to steal his ex-BIL's power. And hopefully he's realized that the dramatic musical confession Stolas performed...didn't make a whole lot of sense.

What if next season Vassago decides he's going to play detective and find out what really happened? I could see him talking with Via to get her side of the story and becoming a sort of protective uncle figure.

It is a wonderful scene, and I'm so proud of Blitz, but I also find myself thinking - I hope Stolas _knows_ that Blitz wanted to kiss him and is just waiting for him to be ready. When you're deeply depressed, the worst possible interpretation of everything feels like the obviously correct one. It would be very like him to mistake Blitz's patient devotion for gratitude.

I don't think the episode was trying to argue that cheating on a wife is okay, I think it was more like... I guess actually addressing what Stolas has done? And maybe that just because he fucked up big time doesn't necessarily mean he deserves death... I mean, sometimes I split exactly like that. Either I'm completely innocent, or I deserve to die. Obviously, it's never actually like that in reality, but I somehow always assume it does. yk?

Imagine a figure skater finding out they're pregnant, when they 'd been throwing their soul into competition and were favored to win the next Grand Prix. That's how I see Millie. She's like some kind of Olympian athlete of carnage; she loves her job and she's at the peak of her skills. To have a baby means all that is _done_. Pregnancy and birth does a number on the body (*) , then you have to take care of the kid for years... there's no going back, not really.

Plus she and Moxxie have only been married a year, and they're still very much in the honeymoon phase. Millie might or might not want kids, but I'm pretty sure she does not want them _yet_. Money is almost certainly also a big worry. Could they even afford to stay in Pride and raise a kid on one income? Or would they have to leave I.M.P, leave Blitz, and go live with Millie's parents? Millie's loving but very critical parents...who don't like Moxxie...on the farm she deliberately left... oog. That all sounds like an easy No decision. But will Moxxie see it that way? Or will he go all starry-eyed and begin writing lullabies, leaving Millie to work out the practical details? If that is what Millie's afraid of, I understand why she talked to Sallie May first, and why she would say, "you know I love you right?" My theory is that she's not feeling guilty because the kid isn't his. She's feeling guilty because she's tempted to make a quick trip to Sloth and never let her husband know a baby was an option.

(*) Imps are a lot tougher than humans, so maybe that part's not a concern. Or maybe it's even more of one, if the bundle of joy has hooves and claws and sharp teeth. I'm sure fic writers will be exploring all the options for us :)

Why is Millie so upset she’s pregnant? Does she not want the kid? Does Moxxie not want a kid? Is the kid not Moxxie’s? Does something weird happen when Imps get pregnant?

I’m hoping I missed something bc this has been eating me alive and all I’m seeing is Stolas/Blitzø shit lmao
